Today some of us got to meet James Smith in person! James has been

with me for most of my AI journey, but from afar. He’s been full of sage

advice and wisdom and has been a pleasure to work with. As a former

Head of English, James could see the opportunities AI possessed to assist

with formative task marking and feedback generations. He and his team

designed a product (Mark My Words) that we at Greg’s, have been proud to

pilot. James’ mantra is that the human should be at the centre of the

process and his platform allows for that. It is entirely bespoke for us, as

together, in collaboration, we fine tune the platform to suit our needs. Flying

up from Melbourne, he generously gave his time to onboard us today and

we are keen to get started this week with some Year 7 tasks. The product

can scan student work (handwriting or type), provide feedback and produce

annotations. We, as an English Department, are keen to use it to get

granular! We want to target particular skills and use the model to highlight

areas for cohort development more readily and in a timely and low variance

manner.

James and I have chatted about the numerous products out there, all of

which have wonderful and particular benefits. What we’ve loved about Mark

My Words is that we’ve been able to effectively design it for what we

need/want. #ai #markmywords #aiedtech #edtech #stgregs
